You've probably seen them. Those narrow dirt trails cutting across a perfectly good patch of grass, usually just a few metres away from an officially designed footpath.
They're sometimes called desire paths, and they appear when people repeatedly choose a route that makes more sense to them than the one originally planned.
In Episode 298 of Five Star Minute, we explore what these unofficial little pathways can teach us about life.
From education and careers to relationships and personal ambitions, we're often encouraged to follow established routes. And while those routes can be valuable, they aren't necessarily right for everyone.
Sometimes the most meaningful opportunities emerge when we question the plan, trust our experience and discover a different way forward.
Not every worthwhile path was there before someone started walking it.
